Kia ora koutou,
After our crazy start to the year, this term has continued to be a busy and exciting one!
It was great to see so many families attend our recent Talanoa Ako Learning Conversations and engage with the learning that your child is doing. Thank you. We are stronger and make greater progress when we work together.
Students have been busy auditioning for our Production ‘Man of Steel’ that will take place later in the year. We have an amazing amount of talent and creativity! I had the privilege to hear our orchestra recently and they are sounding great, along with the Barbershop groups and bands who are working hard with Mr Whitney.
Congratulations to our girls Tag team who, as the Central Zone champions, competed at the Auckland wide Tag Interzones. We are incredibly proud of the girls, and their final placing of 4th across the greater Auckland region and out of 86 teams, in what was a very close result.
We are also really proud of our softball girls who came 4th at the recent Auckland Interzone competition. Well done!
Thank you to all our coaches, teachers and parents for supporting our teams this term, we really appreciate it.
Today, some students are representing us at the Chess Power online competition of the year. This is the beginning of the various chess competitions that we participate in. We look forward to following our 2023 chess team’s success and progress this year as they work with our wonderful coach, Mr Wayne McDougall.
Congratulations to all of our students this term for their effort and work and to those who have received end of term awards. It always makes my heart sing to see the beautiful enthusiasm and kindness of our students.
The last three years have been challenging in many ways. It has been a difficult time for families and their children. Our local schools that are working together (MRPS, Dominion Road Primary, Three Kings Primary, Hillsborough Primary and MRGS) are wanting to support our families by putting together a shared event, called a Whānau Forum. We have Jenny Hale, author and parenting expert from the Parenting Place as a special guest speaker. Kind, Firm and Calm Parenting. Isn’t that what we all want to achieve? Join us at the Puketāpapa Whānau Forum to hear Jenny Hale’s practical advice and to help our connections with our children. The Puketāpapa Whānau Forum will begin with a presentation by Jenny, followed by an opportunity to chat with other families and leaders from across our diverse community. This event is free and snacks are provided. Save the date – Wednesday 3rd May, 6.15-7pm. More information to come out at the start of Term 2.
Happy Easter, have a safe and enjoyable upcoming holiday break.
Term 2 commences Wednesday 26th April, after ANZAC day.
We look forward to continuing to work with you next term.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
