Opportunities

There is an ever-increasing range of opportunities available for students at MRI. New initiatives and ideas are included each year that reflect the interests of students and the talents of staff.

We have a strong chess club that has been in operation for many years. Our wonderful coach Mr Wayne McDougall trains students weekly. Students are given great opportunities to gain valuable gametime in real life competitions. We participate in all of the Chess Federation and Chess Power Competitions locally and nationally.

Our well-resourced coding and robotics clubs operate weekly. A range of programmes, kits and bots are used to make and create technology challenges.

We are a Travel Wise school that has a student-led team that works with the local Council to promote healthy travel (walking and riding bikes) to and from school. There is also the opportunity to get involved in student-driven clubs and projects.

Students opt into electives (term at a time). Programmes include:

As a school and campus we celebrate a wide range of significant cultural events and language weeks. Students are given the opportunity to both lead and learn from the richness of other cultures

Along with the opportunity to be involved in art extension, each year we celebrate an ‘Art Week’ where all students are given the opportunity to work in small groups on art projects, sometimes with local artists.
